Rome, Italy. Each year the students write a poem that is translated into Basque, and with their teacher's help is set to music. The students express themselves and come into contact with Euskera during this process by reading and singing “their topics” accompanied by synthesizers and music resources to elaborate and record their final product. At the end of the school year they receive a CD copy of the recording, including their own drawings and illustrations, that they or their friends and families can see, hear, or even download from the internet. This initiative that is so simple yet so complicated is supported by the Associazione Culturale Euskara and the Dipartamento Lingua e Cultura Basca of the UPTER University, in conjunction with Rome’s Alfieri-Manetti school.
The end result of Euskanta 2012 will be presented tomorrow at the school but those who cannot attend are invited to listen to it on the website: http://euskanta.wordpress.com entangled in its various sections.
