In hopes of reaching more people, the Patagonian Baskos de la Confluencia Basque Club has aired a new radio program, “Txalaparta,” a short 10-minute program that will include information on club activities and in general on various cultural events in the Basque Country, as well as music, sports, history and language, among other topics. “Txalaparta will be broadcast on Radio Confluencia FM 94.5 in Cipolletti every day on rotating schedules.
Neuquen, Argentina. The “Txalaparta,” radio program was created to become the voice of the Baskos de la Confluencia Basque Club, nevertheless, the show that lasts about 10 minutes, won’t just address Basque club topics, but also those of other clubs in the Diaspora and various Basque culture topics like history and customs, music and dance, and language as well as interviews with references in the community.
“Txalaparta,” can be heard everyday on Radio Confluencia FM 94.5 in Cipolletti. The program will repeat throughout the week, at different hours, with a new one being presented every week. It will also be available on the club’s Facebook page, here: Baskos de la Confluencia, where programs will be added after they have been aired. After the first presentation, the second that coincides with San Fermin focused on that festival in Pamplona; the next, that will come out in the coming days will talk about the Basque farmhouse.
Along with the radio program, other activities planned by members of the Basque club this winter include a solidarity activity. The club says, “Conscious of the reality that has hit the most vulnerable sectors like children, Baskos, organized a collection for the Children’s House at Our Lady of Mercy in Neuquen.
The event resulted in 30 boxes that included clothing and footwear for babies, children and youth as well as adults; diapers, a bassinet and even a radio with CD recorder. Everything was in prime condition. Baskos has been the nexus, but sincerely thanks everyone who made the donation possible and hopes to count on these individuals on future occasions,” club sources said.
In hopes of increasing cultural offerings, the club youth are also working on the last details of the Basque Film Series. The club has contacted Carlos Gabilondo so launch the first series event that will eventually become a normal club offering. The showings will being in September alternating between the cities of Cipolletti and Neuquen, and will be open to the community.
