Parana, Argentina. Last Sunday, March 2^nd was the first emission of the “Presencia Vasca” radio program in 2014.  As part of its 24^th anniversary and under the direction of Federico Borras, the program was not only heard in Parana but also thanks to the Internet and new technology it could be heard in the Basque Country and other places from which listeners sent their best wishes for the new season.

“On our first day we received a hundred of messages that came to us via social networks, and phone calls.  Among them, we also heard from Benoit Etxeberri who, of course, we put on the air,” said the program’s host and former president of the Basque Association Urrundik in Parana.

Regarding the new season, Borras also confirmed that the program will continue with its usual format although there will be some new things.  “We will continue as always with Mikel Ezkerro’s column; as well as with interviews with various figures in the cultural and political arenas, following the line that characterizes them, meaning not to elude current events and addressing them in a pluralistic perspective.  We will also have news form the local Basque community and new this year, we will concentrate more on Euskera, in the section that deals with readings, a couple of minutes in that language.”

In regards to the 24^th Anniversary of the “Presencia Vasca,” its host told us that it will celebrate as usual along coinciding with the Urrundik Association’s birthday. The festivities will take place on Sunday, April 13^th at noon at the Hotel El Circulo in Parana.
