The exhibit came to Argentina in June to tour various cities where it will be exhibited to the public. In cities where there are Basque clubs, it will also be included in various activities around it. After being in Buenos Aires and Posadas, “Basque Argentina” will travel to Azul, Olavarria, Marcos Juarez, La Plata and Mercedes. In La Plata, it will also be one of the attractions at Semana Nacional Vasca 2014.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   The collection of photos entitled “The Argentina of the Basques,” was exhibited last month at the headquarters of the French Alliance in the neighborhood of Palermo, in Buenos Aires, and from there it began a tour through various cities, that will end up in Mercedes in April 2015.

Created by the Euskal Kultur Erakundea, Euskal Argentina, Ospitalea and other cultural entities in Iparralde, the exhibit came to Argentina thanks to the French Alliance, although cities with Basque club also participated in the organization, like they did in Posadas in July thanks to the Euskal Jatorri club, and just as they will do in Azul, Olavarria and La Plata.  In the capital city of the Buenos Aires province, it will be part of the program of events of this year’s Semana Nacional Vasca.

The exhibit can be seen in the upcoming months here:

-Azul, August 28-30th, at the Casa Ronco
-Olavarría, during the entire month of September at the French Alliance
-Marcos Juárez, October (place TBD)
-La Plata, as part of the Semana Nacional Vasca, November 2-9th at the Euzko Etxea
-Mercedes, April 2015, at the French Alliance

Remember that the traveling exhibit “Euskaldunen Argentina” is composed of twelve panels that gather images, text, film and audio “in an attempt to provide testimony on Basque emigration to Argentina during the 19th and 20th centuries, more specifically that came from the Northern Basque Country.”  The original work is the result of a meeting between Ospitalea (Center for Education and Patrimony of the General Council of the Department of Atlantic Pyrenees in Irisarri), Euskal Kultur Erakundea, the Euskal Argentina Association, Friends of the Museum of Behe-Nafarroa in Donapaleu and photographer Kepa Etchandy,  with the collaboration of EuskalKultura.com.
