Falling on a workday, there are Basque clubs and communities that celebrated last weekend.  That is the case of the Tokyo Euskal Etxea that held a meeting via Zoom on Saturday the 5th, an opportunity that allowed members relate how they are experiencing this special time of the Coronavirus.  The meeting also included planning for a tentative trip to Euskal Herria next winter.

On the other side of the world, the Haize Hegoa Basque Club in Uruguay held a dance event on Sunday September 6th in the Rodo Park in Montevideo.  Without leaving the Southern Cone, the Colectividad Vasca Basque Club of Chile also celebrated Diaspora Day on Zoom yesterday afternoon.

Invited by the Directorate of the Basque Community Abroad, a large number of clubs are creating videos; in some cases that are being shared on social media like the one from the Boise Basque Club that has adapted the song Bizkaia Maite of Irigaray-Lertxundi (see here), or the publisher Euskal Erria  that shared a message from Jose Antonio Aguirre recorded by Radio Ariel in 1955, during his last visit there.

As every year, the list of events is growing as the date approaches.  Here are some of the events that we have been made aware of from around the world joining those published in prior articles giving an idea of the projection that this celebration on September 8th is enjoying this year despite the sever restrictions imposed by the pandemic.  Gora munduko euskaldunok!
