Santa Rosa, Argentina. During its more than 20 years of life, this is the first time that the Zelaiko Euskal Etxea has created a choir; and that is why they chose San Fermin, one of its largest events, for its first public performance. The lunch took place on July 6th and gathered nearly 100 members and friends to enjoy the show and a varied menu.
[Prepared and served by members of the board of directors, the lunch consisted of an appetizer, lentils and ice cream for dessert. Among the cooks were Angel Baraybar, club president, and Sergio Lino, club secretary, who also addressed the crowd acting as hosts (photo Valeria García Oyarzabal)]
The newly created choir, under the direction of Fr. Jose Lazalleta, sang in Basque and received warm applause. Motivated by this first experience, they will also represent the club next Sunday, August 3rd at the Festival of Communities that will take place at the Spanish Theater, a cultural emblem of the people of this city.

Near the end of the event, president of Zelaiko Euskal Etxea once again took the floor to invite everyone present to the club’s 22nd anniversary. The birthday luncheon will take place on August 17th (TBD) and will include a large pot of seafood, now one of the club’s classic dishes. The event will also be when the new painting in the events hall and the works done in front of the building will be inaugurated. Special thanks to all the members who contributed to these works.
In other business, the club also reports that Valeria Gacria Oyarzabal, club member participated in the Winter Barnetegi last week in Chascomus. We want to remind you that the fourth intensive course for the 2013-2016 of the Euskara Munduan Program gathered 25 students/teachers from various South American Basque clubs.
