The Buenos Aires Euskaltegi extends a double invitation for this Saturday. At 6:30 it will open its doors to anyone who wants to watch the first match of the Argentine Selection in the Copa America in koadrilla. At 8:30pm, after the game, the Triki-Poteo will begin, as in prior editions it will take place in the San Telmo neighborhood to the rhythm of trikis, panderos and albokas.
Buenos Aires, Argentina. “At the public’s request,” Euskaltzaleak is again organizing its fourth Triki-Poteo in Buenos Aires, this Saturday, June 13. “Maybe because it is not a common activity, there are people who ask us specifically when we are going to do the ‘going to the bars with music;’ and that is why one of the first decisions made by the recently elected Board of Directors was to set a date for this event,” according to the language school sources.
The date is for this Saturday to join in “this other great Argentine passion.” Euskaltzaleak will open its doors at 6:30 to watch the Argentine Selection play against Paraguay in the Copa America. “The idea is to watch the game at the clubhouse while we share some pintxos, and warm up our engines to later go for drinks. Later at 8:30pm we will take to the streets of San Telmo with musicians, dantzaris and everyone who wants to join in. Once we have finished the route, we will return to Euskatzaleak were our cooks will be waiting for us with casseroles and talo,” Teresa Zavaleta, Euskaltzaleak’s new president explains to EuskalKultura.com.
Board of Directors
In accordance to the institution’s statutes, last Friday the Euskaltegi held its annual general assembly to hold elections. After voting and four years since her last term, teacher Teresa Zavaleta will return as the president. As she told EuskalKultura.com, “we have gone through very difficult years and in order to survive them, it was imperative to have a pair like Carlos Bordagary and Mariana Arla commanding our institution. And with a great team, but above all with them at the head, we have been able to take important steps, the most notable, without a doubt, is being able to almost pay off the clubhouse. Now we are starting a new phase, with different goals and challenges, including further expansion of our presence in different parts of the city and province, as well as what we are currently doing with Basque groups in Belgrano, Martinez and Versalles. We know that the new team is prepared for that,” the teacher assured.
Here is the board of directors for the next two years:
