The Lehendakari’s address to Basques around the world at the institutional event in Gasteiz on the Day of the Basque Diaspora 2021

Vitoria-Gasteiz. Following the health protocols in place, the Basque Government presided by Lehendakari Urkullu and the institutions in Araba decided to celebrate the Day of the Basque Diaspora 2021 in Vitoria Gasteiz.  This institutional celebration is among the many events organized around the world by Basque clubs, associations, communities and Basque individuals to mark September 8th and present, vindicate, and celebrate the reality and the important contribution that the existence and work of its Diaspora makes to the Basque Country

In addition to his address and the event at the Claustro de iDarte, the Higher School of Art and Design of Euskadi, the Lehendakari also inaugurated the exhibition “Basques in California,” that the Basque Museum of Boise also participated in at the Sancho El Sabio Foundation.

In his talk, streamed all over the world, Urkullu stressed the solidarity, closeness, commitment and fusion of Euskadi with the Diaspora.

Along with the events on September 8th, Vitoria-Gasteiz will also celebrate a program of talks throughout September and October on the Diaspora, as well as a film series.
