Donostia-San Sebastian. The Lehendakari has communicated to the Basque community abroad that “Our hope is to gain presence and projection in the world. To achieve our own space in the international world, and to obtain the direct participation and recognition of our country. This challenge is economic and cultural, as well as institutional and political,” he added.
Iñigo Urkullu calls the entire Basque community to become involved in “a world that is becoming more open and global every day.” We are not starting at zero, we have always been open to the world,” he says. “We now have to move forward and do it together. Unite our forces, public and private, economic and cultural, supporting ourselves from within as well as through our external network. You represent our best asset. You are the Basque network in the world,” he stressed.
The Lehendakari has proposed “a policy of engagement and commitment to the entire Basque community abroad,” mainly through the network of existing federations and Basque clubs, “whose growth we want to support,” indicates the Lehendakari. “We know that you represent the guarantee for the growth of our country. And that is our objective.”
“We share a culture, a sense of identity, a History and the same values. We share the goal of seeing Euskadi grown in the world. We ask you to accompany and help us along the way,” concluded the Lehendakari in his first message to Basques abroad.
