José C. Paz, Argentina. The Toki Eder Basque club celebrated another anniversary on June 9th with its traditional paella for members, friends and neighbors. During lunch, the hosts highlighted the “values of the Basque culture” that they transmit at every one of the club’s activities while mentioning the solidary work they carry out together with the people of Oñati. During lunch, the club also designated the new mayor and those present enjoyed Basque dance and a musical performance by Daniel Galfredo. As at any birthday party, there was no lack of cake or candles, or good wishes, in this case from the Delegate of the Basque Government in Argentina, Sara Pagola and FEVA.
“Euskal Herria Lives in Me” contest
The club also announced the winners of the “Euskal Herria Lives in Me” contest. Winners in the youth category were Giuliana Robles, for Zamarís (1º prize), and Jennifer Cabezas, for Hecho con Amor (Made with Love) (2º prize). In the adult category, the winners were Horacio Díaz, for his wor Ya entenderás (Now you will Understand) (1º prize), and Raquel Pino, for Aritza (2º prize). The ‘Euskera’ prize went to Agustina Olaizola for Entre Amalur y una hija dantzari.(Between Amalur and a Daughter Dantzari).
On June 13th, the club held its third meeting of its cycle Euskal Lehioak-Basque Window. The topic was “Economy and Cooperatives.”
