Rocklin, California, USA. In the northern California town of Rocklin, the Iparreko Ibarra Basque Club has officially canceled its annual Basque Festival this year in conjunction with NABO Kantari Eguna. As a result NABO has announced that its Fall Meeting that would have been celebrated in Rocklin on October 10th as well, will now take place virtually, inviting its delegates and representatives of US and Canadian Basque clubs to attend.
These are measures that were foreseeable according to the severity of the international and national situation in the United States and California in relation to COVID-19. The NABO virtual meeting will be held on the Zoom platform and delegates with the right to participate will find the meeting agenda on the Federation's website that includes issues to be discussed and the documentation corresponding to them. The Zoom code will be given to each participant during the RSVP process.
The Iparreko Ibarra Basque Club does great work maintaining and promoting the Basque culture in the interior valleys of California, in an area where the Basque presence can be traced back to the nineteenth century. However, a good part of its members grew up in the shadow of the community, hotels and the Basque clubs in the San Francisco Bay area.
A few special words of encouragement and appreciation for their work and dedication, as well as to all those Basque clubs that, in the midst of this pandemic, have not given up and continue to work all around the world, keeping the Basque flame alive, with their eyes on the new generations.
Aurrera, aitzina, atxik eta ez etsi, biziki estimatzen dugu zeuon lana!
