Buenos Aires, Argentina. The “Baionako Pestak,” or the Baiona festival takes place annually at the end of July.  Thousands of kilometers from its epicenter, the culture subcommittee at the Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea in Buenos Aires usually organizes a replica of the festivities of the capital city of Lapurdi, bringing local color to the event.  This year, the club couldn’t organize the festival, but nevertheless they were present in Baiona thanks to member Iñaki Galardi de Lescani who attended the festivities in the Basque city, yhis year July 24-28^th.  Norma Rios told EuskalKultura.eus, Iñaki was welcomed by members of the Orai Bat and even collaborated in getting the joaldunak ready along with Aitzol Salaberria, member of the group.

“We would like to thank all the members of Orai Bat Joaldunak for their wonderful welcome of Iñaki as a representative of the Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea, and tell them that our house is also open to them whenever they come to Buenos Aires,” she said.

The culture sub-committee at the club also informed us that news about their activities is also available on their Blog and on Facebook, and that in the second half of the year, they will continue with films and talks, and in September, they will also announce the winners of their literary contest “They Told Me About the Basques”
