In dancing, food and even soccer there has been Basque activities in Comodoro.  The Euskal Echea Association, founded in 1923, ended an excellent year with a massive and fun dinner.  There was great participation of the club’s youth, a fundamental pillar of the institution.  Not only did they help with the cooking, but they also entertained at the event with tier dances, and were even honored for their excellent showing on the men’s and women’s soccer teams at the local Tournament of the Federation of Foreign Communities.

Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina.   In a time of evaluations, the Euskal Echea in Comodoro has concluded that theirs is “absolutely positive for 2016.”  And this because the program of activities planned at the beginning of the year was plenty fulfilled, thanks to the team work and effort shared by everyone involved in the institution, as club sources told EuskalKultura.com.

Going over the last few months, it should be noted that the Euskal Echea Association once again guaranteed the presence of the Basques in the city.  On October 29th it held its annual dinner and dance performance, with more than 200 guests attending.  On November 19th, it was the site of a conference dedicated to the txikis organized and coordinated by the older dancers.  The end of year celebration was held on December 3rd and was also the setting for the dedication of members who have excelled in different areas.  Ignacio Baztan was honored for his constant dedication to the institution.

There were also special mentions for Eduardo Vergel, who represented Euskal Echea at Gaztemundu 2016, and also for the women’s soccer team for having made it to the finals at the local Tournament of the Federation of Foreign Communities.

Now it’s time to rest, to recharge their batteries for 2017.

Meanwhile, the oldest euskal etxea in Patagonia will share images of its latest activities with readers of EuskalKultura.com.
