Azul, Argentina. The format is part of a project promoted by the local city government. Maria Ines Etchevers Aizpiri, club president explained to EuskalKultura.eus that “The invitation came through the Community Relations Department, led by Damian Vuotto, to be part of the grid with its own program, and we have already signed an agreement on the use of the medium, which includes no political economic or commercial issues.”
“La Voz de los Vascos” (The Voice of the Basques), begins on Fridays from 4-4:30pm, beginning on July 2nd. The name, according to Etchevers, is kind of a tribute to member, Alicia Barberia, who was part of the club’s first board of directors, and who years ago participated in programs that were broadcast on LU 10 Radio Azul (a pioneer radio station in the center of the Province of Buenos Aires 1300 AM), as well as within the FM Universal programming.
“That space in which she talked about the club’s activity, especially gastronomy, with recipes being highly anticipated, was called “La Voz de los Vascos.” So no other name came to mind, we will be the continuity of that radio space,” she said.
First Program
The first installment of the program will be hosted by Etchevers herself, but I the future the leadership will be shared and will rotate. “I will dedicate the first part of the presentation to thanks, greetings and to point out two important dates: Aberri Eguna and the anniversary of the attack on Gernika. In the second part, I will talk about club activities (although not all of them are possible yet) and San Fermines given the proximity of the date. We will also have music including “Ikusi Mendizaleak” by Oskorri.”
“In the future, the program will include interviews, commentary and contribution on Basque themes like history, language, customs, gastronomy, sports, film, art, dance…But that will require the participation of club members, and personalities in our community,” she added.
“La Voz de los Vascos” will begin this Friday and will be broadcast every two weeks following from 4-4:30pm on Radio Pública FM 87.9 “Todas las Voces.” Once aired, the Gure Txokoa will also share the program on its social media. To communicate with the program live via WhatsApp: +54 9 2281 310778
