In Gernika, the group visited the Juntetxea and the mythic Tree of Gernika, and places on the coast such as the hermitage of Gaztelugatxe Doniene.
Valladolid, Spain. The Valladolid Basque club has carried out various activities over the last few weeks, including the anticipated annual trip to the Basque Country that took place on April 16-17. The traditional escape took the group to Gernika where members of the Gure Txoko Basque club visited the Museum of Euskal Herria and then the Juntetxea (Bizkaian Parlament) where many took advantage of the opportunity to take pictures with the Tree of Gernika.
Afterwards, the travelers went to the Berroja bodega, in Muxika, in the middle of the Urdaibai Biosphere. Members could see how txakoli was made and wander through the vines and of course taste txakoli along with some tuna pintxos, anchovies and peppers. After lunch, they visited Mundaka and spent the night at the Atxurra, in Bermeo
On Sunday the 17, the trip continued to Matxitxako and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (Gaztelugatxe Doniene). “Anyone climbing to the hermitage needs comfortable shoes,” they recommend. The Euskal Herria visit concluded with a drink and a meal in Bakio and they went home that afternoon.
Mus and Book Tournament
Besides the trip, the club also let us know about other activities that they held recently. On April 15, club member Fernando Gonzalez presented his historic novel, Memory Exercise, One and Two. Zorionak Fernando!
They also recently held their club Mus tournament where the winners were Alberto de Antonio and Agustin Hormaeche. Zorionak to them as well!
