The Gure Txoko Basque club in Valladolid faces the cold of winter with activities: txistorrada, tamborrada, excursions…

The Gure Txoko Basque club in Valladolid, Spain is getting ready for spring, after a very active, busy winter.  The club has carried out various activities over the past few months, from traditional celebrations like Santo Tomas, or the Tamborrada, to excursions, meals and more.  They have elected a new board.  Following a photographic essay of their activity. 

Valladolid, Spain.   The Gure Txoko Basque club in Valladolid reported on its latest activities, while it begins its 2016 Mus Tournament.  Among the celebrations held at the club, two of them should be noted, Santo Tomas that included a visit from the Olentzero, and the Danborrada, that once again gathered members, and a great time was had by all.  Directed by Iker Aramayo, ambers of the club enjoyed playing the March of San Sebastian.

In November, Gure Txoko celebrated its anniversary, but this time without a party, but instead with an excursion and a performance of its choir at Sepulveda. This took place on Sunday, November 15 and the choir joined several fraternities from various parts of Spain to sing in the Church of Salvador.  The Basque choir’s performance ended with “Agur Jaunak.”  Afterwards members enjoyed a meal at the Cristobal restaurant.

Another activity worth mentioning was the election of a new board of directors that took place in October.  Outgoing members were: Mariano Arranz, Ricardo Fdez, Ana Isabel García, Pilar Rodriguez, Gorka Hormaeche and Agustin Oncalada.  Incoming member are: Juan José Medina, Oscar Castañeda, Nerea Castañeda, Agustin Hormaeche and Sonia Sainz, who will join Ricardo Garcia and Amparo Garcia, members of the previous board that will continue in their posts.

Other activities include an excursion to celebrate Gure Txoko’s anniversary to Burgos and the Gumiel de Mercado that included a traditional babarrunada (bean feast).
