In March the Basque diaspora in Argentina begins to move and offer programs and annual activities. That is the case of Gure Etxea in Tandil, that started its choir practices this week, and who will open its classrooms next week to Basque language students. Dancing will begin in April. Among other news, Euskera will return to the Center University (Universidad del Centro), thanks to Basque club teachers.
Tandil, Argentina. The Gure Etxea Basque club in Tandil begins its 2016 activities with a wide variety of cultural activities that is hopes to share with its Basque community. An essential part of this legacy is rhwlanguage and so the club is now offering five courses, with levels and times provided below?
-Euskera I, Grupo A: Tuesday from 16:30 to 18:30hs
-Euskera I, Grupo B: Wednesday from 19:00 to 21:00hs
-Euskera II: Tuesday from 18:30 to 20:30hs
-Euskera III and IV, TBA. Classes will begin on March 14 and will be taught by Ines Olazabal and Beatriz Poume.
Gure Etxea also informed that they will also provide a beginning course in the Department of Languages at the UNCPBA (National University of the Center of the Province of Buenos Aires), on Mondays and Wednesdays from 18:00-19L30, at the Ernesto Sabato school. The course will be taught by Basque club instructors Maria Valeria Aramburu and Inez Olazabal, and will have similar characteristics to those that were taught in 2011, also thanks to an agreement between the club and the university. Gure Abestiak
The choir Gure Abestiak will begin its 2016 season the first week of March and will practice on Mondays and Thursdays from 20:00-21:30. Directed by Martin Tumbarino, the choir won’t only perform at club festivities but also at other local choral events as well as those outside of Tandil. One of the challenges for 2016 will be their performance at Semana Nacional Vasca in Necochea.
Dancing
Another of the club’s strengths are their dantzaris, and they don’t just have a youth and adult group but also a group of txikis. The txikis will learn dance and Euskera on Saturdays beginning on April 9. Adult practice times are yet to be determined. Both groups directed by Barbara Azpiriz, the youth will participate in the club’s recreational activities and dantzari get-togethers will also be planned.
