Great Results and Great Expectations
In a conversation with EuskalKultura.com, with the outgoing club president, Pablo Pavesa, who stressed each and every one of their accomplishments of the team at Guillermo Larregui. “We have more and more activities. The dance group is really big, and there is evidence of growth in Mus as well. We have gone from not having any activities, to being next year’s organizers of the National Mus Tournament (that will take place during the long weekend in August). When we began the workshops, the muslaris got excited and so got the club involved and today they are an invaluable group of workers. In fact, our new lehendakari, Bernardo Indaburu, was our Mus delegate from the club and attended the last National Tournament.”
“On the other hand, we should also point out that we are finishing our term with a surplus, in regards to economics as well as people who have joined us. All of this has a lot to do with the trips that we have organized to the Basque Country. The people who travel with us get to know the club and also after returning, participate in our activities and get interested in the Basque culture. For example, the film series that attracts a bigger audience all the time,” he said.
In regards to the trips to the Basque Country organized by the club, Pavesa reminded us that the latest one that includes 41 travelers will leave on September 25th. “On our first trip we were 26 and now we are 41. The growth is huge and it encourages us to organize another one for 2017.”
Looking forward, besides the trip, the Guillermo Larregui dancers will participate in the workshop organized by FEVA and Uzturre Mundua in Buenos Aires, and in Semana Vasca in Necochea. For year’s end, they are also planning a big event to celebrate the International Day of Euskera and to close 2016 inviting everyone who participated in the three trips to the Basque Country organized by the club.
