Boise, ID, USA. The Governor is traveling with his wife, Teresa Little, leading a delegation that will visit Euskadi, the Netherlands and Ireland during its six-day stay. Other members of the delegation include Idaho’s Director of Commerce, Tom Kealy and the Director of Agriculture, Celia Gould. During their stay he will meet with the highest authorities in at the Provincial Government of Bizkaia and the Basque Government.
Governor Little will meet Deputy General of Bizkaia (cheaf of government), Unai Rementeria, the Mayor of Gernika, Jose Mari Gorroño, as well as with a representative of Bizkaia’s Batzar Nagusiak (Parliament), as well as with Lehendakari Urkullu and members of the Basque Government, among others.
The city of Boise is Gernika’s sister city and Boise, as well as the state of Idaho maintains an historic relationship with Euskadi that has been reinforced in recent years with reciprocal visits and bilateral agreements that involved, in the Basque Country, both the Provincial Government of Bizkaia, as well as the Basque Government.
The trip’s agenda includes themes related to energy and agriculture, among others. Little has previously visited Euskadi, as Liutenant Governor of Idaho. As governor he took office in January and this is his first official trip. He is a supporter of this mutually beneficial relationship, with the Basque institutions, visiting Bizkaia and Euskadi both in 2010 and 2015, and welcoming both the Deputy General and the Lehendakari in Idaho’s Capital.
