The exhibit is comprised of 19 panels through which one can explore the past and present of the language of the Basques, above all its presence in Argentina starting with the Argentinan Euskaraz program.  The Delegation of Euskadi invites Basque clubs to organize exhibits outside the purview of their communities to reach a larger and more varied audience.

Bueno Aires, Argentina.  Entitled “In the Footsteps of Euskera. The Basque Language and its Presence in Argentina,” the exhibit created by the Delegation of Euskadi in Argentina and Mercosur, with the collaboration of HABE and FEVA, will begin touring Argentinean Basque clubs by mid-July.

Even if the complete itinerary is yet to be determined, it will continue to change in regards to requests by the Basque clubs.  Delegate, Sara Pagola, told EuskalKultura.com that there are confirmed destinations in place, and so others will be added either before or after these.  On the one hand the panels will arrive to Macachin to be exhibited for Semana Nacional Vasca from October 26-November 1, and on the other they will be in Buenos Aires from mid-November through the beginning of December to be part of the activities dedicated to the International Day of Euskera organized by the Delegation at the national Library and at the Book Museum.  Keeping in mind these dates, Basque clubs who would like, may use the exhibit from the last two weeks of July through the end of August.

In the same way, and in order to optimize moving issues, clubs are asked to coordinate between themselves to organize regional tours.

In regards to the requirements to organize the exhibit, the Delegation encourages clubs to exhibit it in public places like cultural centers, libraries, or exhibition halls with room for 19 banners measuring 0,90m by 1,90m.  These panels will allow the public to get to know the past and present of the language of Euskal Herria and about its presence and reality in Argentina as a reflection of the Argentinan Euskaraz program.

The goal is to exhibit it outside of the Basque community in hopes of reaching the largest number of people possible.  In fact, it is proposed, as part of the program, to invite schools and educational institutions to view it.  In this sense, and as a complement to the exhibit, the Delegation will also provide audiovisual material and pamphlets with extra information so that each Basque club can eventually personalize and include local information to it.

The exhibit, “In the Footsteps of Euskera.  The Basque Language and its Present in Argentina,” is part of the activities celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Argentinan Euskaraz Program that will conclude with festivities on the International Day of Euskera held in Buenos Aires.  For more information, or to request the exhibit contact Mariana Satostegui a marianasatostegui@euskadi.eus
