All of the images recreated historic facts, “making it an important work of art for the retrieval and dissemination of historical memory,” The exhibit is generating great anticipation in Cuba because of the importance of these facts for many Cubans whose families were forced to exile, according to Etxepare.
The exhibit’s inauguration was attended by some 200 people from the Basque Country and Cuba who enjoyed an introduction by Beatriz Lafita “Art and War,” and a talk entitled, “Painting and Historic Memory,” by the exhibit’s creator.
