Since the month of September the Basque club in Gral. Acha, in the Argentinean Province of La Pampa, has a new logo and new uniform for the athletes that represent the institution. Both designs were created by Melisa Gonzalez Poey and highlight elements of Basque culture. Together with this anouncement, Euzko Txokoa invites everyone to a dinner/dance scheduled for next Saturday.
General Acha, Argentina. "With hopes of strengthening member's participation and the local community's participation in general", the Euzko Txokoa Basque club of General Acha announced a contest to design a club logo and sports uniform that would identify its teams. Winner of the contest in both areas was young designer Melisa Gonzalez Poey who based her designs on the ikurriña, the lauburu, a circle and a person. According to her, “the ikurriña and the lauburu are contained in a circle that signifies union and equality; and on the bottom holding the three elements you can see the figure of a man, which means that we can all make it a better club.”
On behalf of the club, congratulations to the winner and to everyone who participated, for the works that were presented, as well as to the jury who judged the works and carried out to choose the winner.
Saturday the 13th
The club is also announcing some upcoming activities. After a Te-Parade organized last Sunday September 7th, where more than fifteen clothes stores participate to present their 2014 spring collection, on Saturday September 13th the invitation is for an "American dinner and dance".
The event has been organized in conjunction by the local Rotary Club and the Basque club, in hopes of raising money for roof maintenance for the main hall at the club. Admission is $200 for adults and $100 for those between the ages of 3-12, with everything included.
