Santiago, Chile. The Basque club of Santiago will be the scene tomorrow of a high-level gastronomic event, thanks to four renowned Bizkaian chefs. These include: Beñat Ormaechea from the restaurant Jauregiberria; David García, from the Martin Berasategui and the Támesis; Javier Gartzia, from the Boroa; and Ricardo Pérez, from the la Alhóndiga restaurant in Bilbao. Accompanying them is sommelier Jon Andoni Rementeria, who will lead a txakolin tasting. His restaurant, Remenetxe, was awarded Best of Wine Tourism in 2009.
The event is being called “From the oak to the titanium” and was organized with the collaboration of the Provincial Government of Bizkaia in hopes of introducing more people to the richness of Bizkaia’s cuisine. This is why the event invitations were signed by both the President of Chile’s Basque club Jose Maria Narvarte Arregui as well as the Deputy General of Bizkaia, Jose Luis Bilbao Eguren.
It should be noted that a delegation of this institution, as well as other Bizkaian companies, have been conducting a trade mission in Chile during this time. The event at the euskal etxea in Santiago will serve as the perfect close to this trip.
The tasting will be held at the Euzko Etxea, enlivened by trikitixas, the Basque Choir of Chile, as well as the club’s Basque dancers all beginning at 20:00.
