Arrecifes, Argentina. Members and friends of “LA Vasca,” as it is known locally, gathered on February 22nd at a dinner to celebrate the club’s 97th anniversary. Before dinner, club president, Laureano Villa, presented the activities that the club is anticipating in 2019, among others, Euskera classes, dance, and new offerings such as txistu and pandero classes. Besides, and to begin preparations for the Euskal Etxea’s Centennial, the Euskaldunak Denak Bat announced that it will also form its own tamborrada.
During the festivities there were emotional moments, like the reading of a letter sent from the Euskaltzaleak Basque Club on the occasion of the anniversary, as well as when member who had passed away were remembered, especially when Angélica "Cusa" Echaniz, was mentioned, one of the most important references of the club who passed away at the age of 89 on January 26th.
To lighten up the evening, guests, as well as representatives from other clubs in Pergamino an Macachin, were offered birthday cake and a toast. Dancing was to the rhythm of local Gustavo Peralta that lasted into the night.
