The Paris Basque club celebrates in 2016 60 years and has prepared several activities to mark this anniversary.  The festivities began last Saturday with a party and will continue today with a concert by special guest, the well-known Basque singer Benito Lertxundi.  Tomorrow there will be a Sagardotegi night at the club, and on Sunday the club membership will take to the streets to celebrate carnival.

Paris, France.   The Paris Euskal Etxea begins its fun-filled weekend today, submerged in the celebration of its 60th anniversary.  For starters, this afternoon the director of Euskal Kultur Erakundea, Pantxoa Etchegoin, will give a talk on Basque song at the clubhouse.  Afterwards, the singer, Benito Lertxundi, will give a concert at the Trianon.  Lertxundi is one of the most admired Basque singers and his concert has created a lot of excitement in Paris.

On Saturday, the group Sustraiak-Erroak will teach an intensive Euskera course at the clubhouse followed by a Sagardotegi night.  The menu includes cod tortilla, steak, cheese and cider from the Zapiain sagardotegi in Astigarraga, Gipuzkoa.

To complete the weekend club members will participate in carnival in Paris, along with its float.  At the end of the day, they will be able to see “Aita eta ama maiteak…,” thanks to Mixel Etxekopar, Christian Irigoyen and Cecil Tisonk, based on the letters from Basque immigrants in Argentina.

Dance with Patxi eta Konpainia

The 60th anniversary events began last weekend with a party and a dance at the clubhouse.  The day began with mass, followed by a performance by the txikis of the Pinpirinak dance group.  The Anaiki choir gave a recital followed by dinner for 130 people prepared by Chef Xavier Mougica.  To end the day there was a dance with Patxi eta Konpainia, who came from the Basque Country and who was able to get everyone dancing, following Patxi’s instructions.
