Barcelona, Catalonia. The Barcelona Euskal Etxea published a note on social media announcing that “due to the demonstrations planned for the upcoming days in Catalonia, we have decided to cancel the EH Sona 19 concerts scheduled on October 18 and 19 since we cannot guarantee their being carried out properly.”
“The Euskal Etxea Cultural Center want to state that political conflicts must be resolved using democratic means. We claim the right to free expression and in light of the sentence handed down by the Supreme Court, we want to extend our solidarity to he condemned political and social leaders and their families. Therefore, the Euskal Etxea will close its doors today,” the note said on the day that the sentences were made public.
The EH Sona 2019 Festival had planned concerts by the groups Nikotina, Senyor Oca, Bad Sound and Maluks (on Friday the 18th); and with Barcelona Rock Orchestra, Trakamatraka, Onki Xin, Belatz, Eskean Kristo and Anita Parker (on Saturday the 19th). The organization has planned to reschedule some of the cancelled concerts in November and December and return the money from the others. All of this will be reported shortly.
