Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Euskal Echea Institute in the capital city begins the 2015 course by opening its doors to the community for a series of concerts. The goal of this initiative is double; on the one hand, to provide a space for classical music and its followers, and on the other to be able to hear the sounds of the organ “Kilgen & Son,” the only one of its kind in Argentina. Faithful to its origin and mission, all the concerts include works by Basque or Basque related composers and pieces.
The inaugural function of the year is divided into two parts. The first includes an introductory talk followed by a recital by a trumpet and organ played by Fernando Ciancio and Enrique Rimoldi. The musicians will play a repertoire that includes works by composers such as Johann S. Bach, marc A. Charpentier, John Stanley, George F. Haendel, Jeremiah Clarke and Fr. Felipe Gorriti, among others.
The program for the upcoming months is as follows:
-May 14. Mercedes Garcia Blesa (soprano), Gabriel Schebor (vihuela) and Ana Paula Segurola (organ). Basque crosses – Portuguese and Spanish in the Renaissance of the Anchieta.
-June 11. Osvaldo Guzman, organ recital
-September 3. Choir from the Euskal Echea Institute, directed by Jose Antonio Cardozo; Buenos Aires Lagun Onak Choir directed by Miguel Pesce, Jose Maria Gutierrez (txistu) and Javier Davalos (organ).
