Gernika, Bizkaia. Promoters of this new association met last Friday, November 9th, in Gernika and elected its first board of directors that will be led by Amaia Urberuaga. Those gathered, demonstrated their commitment and hope that the Euskal Australiar Alkartea will become a tool of diffusion, knowledge and dissemination of emigration and the reality of Basque emigration to Australia that requires further research and dissemination when compared with Basque emigration to the US or Latin America.
They also hope for mutual recognition between Basque-Australians in Euskal Herria to reflect their reality in Euskadi as well as in Australia
The entity’s first event will take place on Sunday in Gernika (see separate article).
