The Euskal Argentina Association will hold its annual general assembly this Saturday in Donibane Garazi

The Euskal Argentina association will hold its annual general assembly this Saturday at the town hall in Donibane Garazi-St Jean de Pied de Port.  The entity, presided for years by Pierra Lako, and whose current president is Monika Legarto, will go over its budget and activities that took place in 2015.  They will also present and talk about its current activity and will report, among other things, on the trip to Argentina that is planned for this November. 

Donibane Garazi, Lower Navarre.   The association usually holds its annual general assembly around April and this year the date set is next Saturday, April 16, beginning at 9:30am at the town hall of the Lower Navarrese capital city.  It will be, as every year, an open meeting where members of the entity will present, summarize, and discuss economic activity, as well as activities that took place over the last year. Among other topics, they will also talk about the trip that the members of Euskal Argentina will take in November to Semana Nacional Vasco Argentina, in Necochea, after a year when the traditional trip did not take place.

The goals of this association based in Juxue and presided by Monika Legarto pursue to promote the relationship and mutual knowledge between Euskal Herria, in particular Iparralde, and Argentina, supporting Basque families who hope to find and maintain their ties with descendants of their ancestors in this part of the world, as well as Argentineans who hope to explore and get to know their Basque roots better.  In both areas, Euskal Argentina makes an important contribution to the social support and research in the field of the Basque Diaspora.

After fini shing Saturday’s meeting there will be an aperitif around noon, to be followed by a meal at the Mendy Restauran in the neighboring town of Donazaharre - St Jean le Vieux.  There are still some spot open for lunch and it costs 28 Euros.  The meal will include entertainment by the Menditarrak singing group from Banka.  RSVP by calling: +33 (0)685 946112.
