Donostia-San Sebastián. The Etxepare Basque Institute celebrated its first decade of life yesterday with an event with limited capacity, social distancing, and complying with the mandatory Coronavirus regulations, at the Tabakalera in San Sebastian.  Ten years, during which the Institute has established itself as an essential active resource for Basque artists, when it comes to making themselves known internationally and, in general, making our art, language and culture known by sharing and interacting with the rest of the world.

To celebrate its first 10 years, the Institute launched a campaign “10 urte, 11 aulki, 11 istorio” (10 years, 11 chairs, 11 stories) that gathers the testimonies of 11 people under the slogan “The Culture is more ours when we Share it.” The 11 people are from diverse origins and backgrounds including Japanese professors Sho Hagio and Hiromi Yoshida, from Buenos Aires the Basque-Argentine Gabriela Mendia, among the writers, Bernardo Atxaga, Karmele Jaio and Miren Agur Meabe, translator Isaac Xubin, actress Itziar Lazkano, Kukai Dancer, Jon Maya, Oreka TX musician, Igor Otxoa and artist Maider Lopez.

The campaign that will be shared on social media as well as other media over the next two weeks, can be seen here.

Zorionak Etxepare!
