The Eduardo Chillida Chair is underway, sponsored by the Etxepare Basque Institute at the Goethe University in Frankfurt that, in its first year, has Dr. Ana Maria Rabe as the invited scholar. Rabe, an expert on Chilida, will be in charge of teaching two seminars on the art of this Donostia native that will last through the beginning of July. The goal of the chair is to publicize Basque art and, in particular, the vast artistic creation of Chillida, within the framework of University studies.

Frankfurt, Germany.  The Eduardo Chillida Chair has been underway since April 17th at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, thanks to art expert Ana Maria Rabe.  Even though classes have already begun, the official inauguration of the chair will take place in June, according to the Etxepare Basque Institute.

The Chair is part of the International Masters of Curatorial Studies, and is comprised of two seminars.  The first is entitled, “Space, Time, Material: Eduardo Chillida and the Challenges of Modern Sculpture,” while the second is entitled, “The Significance of Place in Art: from Exhibition Spaces of Chillida to Spaces of Encounter.”

World Reference

The Chair has gathered a special section dedicated to Chillida’s work in the Library of Art in Frankfurt, which seeks to become a world reference for the study of Chillida’s art, in collaboration with the Chillida Leku Museum.

In addition, it should be mentioned that the university has committed to organize an international symposium on the artist within the first two years of the chair.
