Real Sociedad will tour the US in May, just after league (La Liga) competition concludes. The txuriurdin tour will leave for the US on May 16th and on May 18th they will be in California to play against the San Jose Earthquakes. Afterwards, on May 24th they will play in the Charities Cup in Texas, against the Houston Dynamo. Team sources told EuskalKultura.com that the team is more than ready to meet their fans and with Basques in the area during their stay in the US.
Donostia-San Sebastian. After the league competition concludes, the Txuri Urdin will head to California to face the San Jose Earthquakes on May 18th at the Avaya Stadium. Currently the San Jose team is competing in the MLS and is ranked 7th. Founded in 1995, it has won the MLS Cup in 2001, 2003, and the MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2005 and 2012.
Their second commitment in America will take place on May 24th at a stadium in Texas, where they will compete in the BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup, where teams like Aston Villa, Monterrey or Valencia have also competed. Their rival will be the local Houston team, the Houston Dynamo also part of the MLS
Sources from Real Sociedad contacted by EuskalKultura.com have assured us that the club is interested in contacting Basques in these areas and organize, if possible, some kind of gathering with the team. Last year the Txuri Urdin toured China and contacted the Basque club in Shanghai, for example. This year they are ready to repeat the experience.
