Palo Alto, California. The Basque language and culture lectureship at Stanford University joined in on the International Day of Euskera celebration on November 28, by showing the film, Bertsolari. This film, directed by Asier Altuna, chronicles the ins and outs of today’s bertsolaris in a poetic and easily understandable way that viewers around the world have connected to very well.
The screening at Stanford went as well, according to Iñaki Lopez de Luzuriaga, “The students and professors that attended followed the film very closely. They were surprised by the various aspects of bertsolaritza that the documentary reveals.”
Lopez de Luzuriaga gave a short presentation of the work and after the screening answered audience questions during a very lively colloquy.
The event concluded with a Basque products tasting, especially cheeses, like Idiazabal, Iraty-Ossau and the famous Barinaga Ranch in San Francisco that was also very well received.
