The fatal attack on the Bizkaian village occurred on April 26th and ceremonies began in the Diaspora on that day, and have been extended for days after. Events at clubs in Uruguay, in Salto and Montevideo, were attended by Gorka Alvarez Aranburu. The Delegation of Euskadi in Buenos Aires also held an event at the Kirchner Cultural Center, while clubs in Chile and Peru weren’t left behind holding tributes with dancing and music. Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Bombing of Gernika still resounds in the Basque Country, the Diaspora and around the world. Institutions in the Basque Diaspora are part of the effort to keep the memory alive of what took place on April 26, 1937, and so commemorations are multiplying. From Peru to Rio de la Plata, the 81st anniversary of the bombing was remembered in multiple ways, in many locations, and clubs.
