The traditional tamborrada began the performances in the Plaza, on the same stage where the dancers from the various Basque clubs performed Soka-dantza as a way to welcome everyone. After all the groups had performed, dantzaris and the audience joined in a Fandango and Kalejira.
The 2019 dinner and dance was highlighted by the formal presentation of a Basque festival and the new cider “Txapela,” made in Argentina with a Basque recipe under Basque Argentine direction. Presented by Xabier Aguirre from Rosario, guests could taste the natural Basque cider that came directly from the kupela, or barrel, just as it does at cider houses in Euskal Herria.
At Sunday’s lunch there was music provided by the club’s choir and the group Zutarriak, and also emotions, with the club recognizing the five oldest members of the club. Those honored were Pedro Iraola, Nelly Mathieu, Nelli Etchevers, Juan Indaverea and Roberto Gangoyti, who wasn’t able to attend due to health reasons.
As at every event, the hosting club said goodbye to their guests with a present. This year, everyone received four boxes of Mus cards.
