Vitoria-Gasteiz. Friday, October 18th is the deadline to apply for the Basque Government’s Youth Return Aid Program from the Department of Employment and Lanbide. Companies have until this date to take advantage of the economic support provided by the Basque Government to contract professional youth who have become accredited outside of Euskadi. More than 120 youth have registered as people willing to return to Euskadi.
According to the note provided by Eusko Jaurlaritza, to date many companies have contacted Lanbide (employment) “to get to know firsthand the characteristics of this line that supports the return of young talent and whose aid can cover 50% of the established salary, or 12,000 Euros for an indefinite contract,” according to Borja Belandia, Director General of Lanbide. “Of these, more than 20 have applied for aid to contract this young talent.”
The aid from the Youth Return program is double: on the one hand, Basque companies who contracted those under the age of 35 that have been working abroad for less than 12 months will receive an economic grant that covers part of that individual’s salary. On the other, those contracted also receive aid to cover moving costs. The contracts have to be for longer than a year, and must include an employment contract.
