The Basque theater company, Deabru Beltzak, will participate today through July 24th in Montreal (Quebec, Canada) in the city’s 375th anniversary festivities. The group based in Bilbao will perform Les Tambours de Feu (The Drums of Fire) every day downtown.

According to the Etxepare Basque Institute Deabru Beltzak is currently in Montreal where they will perform daily from July 19-24, participating in the city’s 375th anniversary festivities. They will perform the street show Les Tambours de Feu, every day, on the corner for Saint-Denis and Moisonneuve streets.

Les Tambours de Feu blends live music, with pyrotechnics and special effects. With one hand on the drum and the other provoking, the latest work of Deabru Beltzak are drums that vibrate to illuminate the streets. The company was created in 1996 thanks to actors from different Basque theater companies, and since has created some ten shows.
The city of Montreal is celebrating 375 years, and as such has organized all kinds of events and shows during the year, creating a chronological line. The complete program is available here.
