Sara, Lapurdi. The traditional Writers Conference in Sara is not being celebrated today. The gathering for writers and book fair that always takes place on Easter Monday, or on Easter Sunday and Monday as it has the last several years, has been one of the event affected by the present Coronavirus crisis. However, in this case, the 37th edition of the event hasn’t been cancelled, but postponed with a the new date of September 6th being announced in hopes of carrying it out with the previewed program including a variety of events part of this year’s theme “Women and Basque Literature”
The previewed program included a talk by literary critic Retolaza Gutierrez, entitled “The Voice of Women in Basque Literature.” With the number of Basque women creators growing in the last few years, she was going to talk about their space and contribution among other points. Also included in the program was a presentation of “Asfaltoa zartatzeko moduak,” (Ways of Cracking Asphalt) by Txakur Gorria.
One roundtable will include the participation of Maddi-Ane Txoperena Iribarren, Marikita Tambourin, Maddi Zubeldia and Maialen Hegi Luku sharing their common experiences and impressions in regards to the way their respective careers have been affected by the fact that they are all women.
