Kinku Zinkunegi, technician from HABE and coordinator of the Euskara Munduan program is in South America these days where he is touring various countries. The main reason for his trip is to supervise the Basque accreditation exams for HABE that will take place for the first time in Buenos Aires. Prior to that however, Zinkunegi will visit various Basque clubs in Brazil, Chile and Uruguay with whom HABE has agreements to support Basque classes through Euskara Munduan. On October 6 he was at the Eusko Brasildar Etxea in Sao Paulo and yesterday in the Euzko Etxea of Santiago Chile. Today he will visit two more Chilean clubs: the Colectividad Vasca of Chile and the Euzko Etxea in Valparaiso; while tomorrow and the day after he will be in Uruguay. The tour will end in Argentina where the accreditation exams will take place this weekend.

Sao Paulo, Brazil.  Jose Francisco “Kinku” Zinkunegi, coordinator of HABE’s Euskara Munduan Program, was in Brazil last weekend during a tour that will also take him to Chile, Uruguay and Argentina.  During his stay in Sao Paulo, Zinkunegi visited the Eusko Brasildar Etxea Basque club, as club president Oskar Goitia explained to EuskalKultura.com.

Goitia is one of the Basque teachers in his club along with Karol Salazar.  Both professors were trained to be teachers in the Euskara Munduan program from 2008-2012 and during the visit showed Zinkunegi the new premises of the Eusko Brasildar Etxea in Tremembe, where they teach their Basque classes.  It should be noted that other classes are also taught by the club at Tremembe’s cultural center and at the Casa de España.

According to Goitia, Zinkunegi “was pleased with the work that the club is doing” and he noted that the Eusko Brasildar Etxea had “experienced a huge qualitative leap during the last year.” Following, both parties planned the upcoming 2012-13 school year.  At the end of the reunion the Eusko Brasildar Etxea presented Zinkunegi a plaque in recognition of “his work in the diffusion of Euskara in Brazil.”

Zinkunegi’s tour continued yesterday with a visit to the Delegate of Euskadi for Chile and Peru, Ana Urchuegia, and a work meeting with professors and directors of the Euzko Etxea in Santiago.  Today Zinkunegi will visit two other clubs in Chile: the Colectividad Vasca de Chile and the Euzko Etxea in Valparaiso.

Tomorrow he will travel to Uruguay where he will meet with the federation FIVU and Basque clubs including Euskal Erria, Euskaro and the Salto Basque club.  On Friday he’ll arrive in Argentina where he will meet with FEVA, the federation of Basque clubs of that country.  Finally, the Basque accreditation exams will take place this weekend for Basque club students.  The written exam will take place on Saturday with the oral portion taking place on Sunday.
