Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina. On Saturday, February 29th, the city of Comodoro Rivadavia in Chubut, in Argentine Patagonia held festivities to celebrate the 500 years since the first circumnavigation of the globe by Magellan and Elcano. The events took place at the city’s port, on the shores of the Atlantic, and was attended by public and private entities, including the local Basque club.
Representatives of the Basque club were present at the inauguration ceremony and at the artistic performances. At the ceremony, the standard-bearers carried the Argentinean flag along with the Basque Ikurriña.
The neskak from the Haize Dantzariak dance group were also part of the festivities and danced on the stage set up in front of the Ferroportuario Museum where there was also a performance by the Lagun Artean Choir. Festival photos available here.
