Neuquén, Argentina. For the last two years, the Euskal Etxea in Comahue works to spread the Basque culture in the capital city of the province of Neuquén and its surroundings. This is why it was invited by the city of Centenario, some 15 kilometers from Neuquen City, to participating in its cultural and community activities. The Book Fair in Centenario, as part of the city’s 96th anniversary, took place October 13-15, in the Plaza San Martin in front of city hall. There, the club installed its stand along with other institutions.
Over the three days, it provided various proposals for its visitors. In the children’s corner, the club announced the winners of its first children’s literary contest for children between the ages of 9-14. The stand also provided pamphlets and a large number of books donated by friends of the club.
In the words of Manu Molina, club president, “participating in the Book Fair in Centenario, is an interesting proposal because the city has a large Basque community. It was very gratifying since we met many people who were very interested in learning more about their roots. We hope to continue to participate in these events that fill us with pride. I would like to congratulate and thank the members of the Euskal Etxea in Comahue who accompanied me in every activity that we organized, and to those who donated books including Cesar Arrondo, who gave us some copies of books that he has written.”
