Chino, California, USA. Next Sunday, as every first Sunday in September on Labor Day Weekend, a holiday in the US, the Chino Basque Club would have held its annual Basque Picnic that was cancelled, as were practically all Basque face-to-face festival gatherings this year. But the club not wanting the date to pass unnoticed, it has invited everyone to join them on YouTube for their virtual picnic that will begin at 11am on Sunday.
Anyone wishing to join in, the picnic will begin at 11am with mass recorded expressly for the event by Aita Antton Egiguren, and will continue at noon with the rest of the festivities, all on the Chino Basque Club YouTube Channel. The club will then begin connecting with houses of its club members and the Basque community when each one will explain how they are celebrating the weekend. There will be singing, food commentary, dancing and storytelling, besides those that are live; there will be other recorded contributions, including music from the Basque Country with friends like Banka Menditarrak, Iñaki Dieguez, Kiki Bordatxo, Joxe Angel Elizalde, Xabier & Aner Euzkitze, Mikel & Esti Markez and Julen Alonso, Xabi Aburruzaga, Martin Lerissa & Mixel Ducau, Iñaki Reta & Marta Peruga, and Ketxo. Don't miss it!
This is the video-invitation from Christian Jauregy on behalf of the club. To find out when you will participate, or find out more about the day, email him at ccjaureguy2@aol.com.
