The Center for Basque Studies 11th annual conference entitled, “Play, Games and Sport: Bodies of Practice, Communities of Desire” begins today, bringing experts and university professors together for three days to analyze games and sports. Conference organizers are Joseba Etxebeste and Clara Urdangarin from the University of the Basque Country who are in Reno this year as the William Douglass Distinguished Scholars for 2011-12, along with Mariann Vaczi (ABD) Ph.D. candidate and Joseba Zulaika, Vaczi’s thesis director and co-director of the Center for Basque Studies.

Reno, NV.  Please find below the full conference program.  This event is organized annually by the Center for Basque Studies, at the University of Nevada Reno, focusing on the area of study of that year’s William Douglass Distinguished Scholar named for the founder and supporter of the Center who retired Professor Emeritus in 1999.
