Reno, NV. The Center for Basque Studies has opened the call for applications for the Dolores Saval Trigero scholarship, designated to support students of Basque origin. The scholarship was created to help students wishing to attend the University of Nevada, Reno, especially those residing in rural areas. The award ranges between $500 and $1,000 with half being awarded each semester.
The scholarship was created in 1995, as a donation from the family of Dolores Saval Trigero, daughter of Basque immigrants. Anyone wishing to apply must do so by April 15. Eligible students must be enrolled at the university full time and must maintain a GPA of at least 2.75. For more information and applications, here.

International conference on Basque sports
Additionally, the Center for Basque Studies will host an international conference entitled, “Play, Games and Sports: Bodies of Practice, Communities of Desire,” on April 19-21. The conference will gather Basque experts in the field Joseba Etxebeste, Clara Urdangarin, and Olatz Gonzalez, among others.
