Caracas, Venezuela. After not being able to celebrate in a timely manner, with the anniversary being March 3rd, the Basque club in the Venezuelan capital will now be able to gather in person and hold an anniversary celebration, paying special tribute to those who left us in 2020, and reuniting members and friends to share a Christmas lunch.
The event is planned for December 13th and following the strict health protocols, will take place in the following way: Mass will be celebrated by a Jesuits from the Andres Bello Catholic University in the fronton, including a performance by the Alaiak Choir who will sing Christmas and Basque songs as well as some Venezuela ones. There will also be an Aurresku, and lunch that will provide a fusion of typical Basque pintxos with traditional Venezuelan dishes.
Club president, Ibane Azpiritxaga, informed EuskalKultura.eus of these activities emphasizing that all will take place managing “meticulous logistics to conform to the biosecurity measures; the event will be in open spaces and we will also have assistance for those who may require it.”
Return to a new normal
Since November 3rd, and as part of the 7x7, that is to say 7 days of flexibility and 7 days of radical confinement, the club was able to resume some of its activities between the hours of 7am and 3pm with capacity kept at 40%.
“The influx of people occurred gradually. The first week there was no major movement, but during the second week, there was. In December, a Supervised Christmas Relaxation was announced 7x7, during which we can open our doors all month long. We will see how it goes in the future,” Azpiritxaga explained. A measure that still requires caution, but is certainly welcome for those who make up the Basque community of Caracas.
