The Official Bulletin of the Basque Country (EHAA-BOPV) published the call for the 2016 Gaztemundu program yesterday, beginning one day after the application period for the same. This year’s edition is dedicated to Basque gastronomy. There are 25 spots to fill and interested people will need to submit a video that certifies culinary knowledge, recording a culinary proposal as part of the application. The program will take place from October 1-16 in Donostia.
Vitoria-Gasteiz. The BOPV published on Monday, July 11th the call for applications to fill the 25 spots available in this year’s Basque Government's Gaztemundu youth program dedicated in this edition for the first time to Basque gastronomy.
The call includes the specifics of this edition that is focusing on the culinary arts and the elaboration of Basque dishes, “a selection related to the fact that there are Basque restaurants that are part of Basque clubs, as well as gastronomic societies, and so they will do what is necessary to expand the knowledge and practices of this much esteemed sociocultural heritage that represents the culinary art in Basque dishes.”
Interested person need to be between the ages of 18-35, as of January 1, 2016 and be a member, for at least three years, of a recognized Basque club in the Basque Government register of Basque clubs. Individuals who have participated the Gaztemundu program since 2003 are not eligible to apply, and knowledge of gastronomy needs to be certified. In order to do so, they need to include a video of a culinary proposal in their application.
