The 19th edition of the festival included a large Basque representation thanks to the Gure Txokoa Basque club and a delegation from the Loretako Euskaldunak from Las Flores. During the festival, club dancers, along with the “Arima Gazte” dance group debuted their baserritarra costumes.
Azul, Argentina. Organized by the local government, and through the Secretary of Culture and Education along with the Collectivities of the Party of Azul, the 19th edition of the Festival of Collectivities took place on November 23, at the San Martin plaza. With a large number of people gathered, the festival began with a food court offering typical dishes, and concluded with a parade and a performance on the stage in front of city hall.
Along with this news the Basque club in Azul, also let us know that a new dance group, directed by Sofia Palermo, debuted in October at the event for the Day of Respect for Cultural Identity. Its director, Sofia Palermo, participated in the 2014 Gaztemundu program that took place in the Basque Country this July.
Looking at next month, Gure Txokoa in Azul will celebrate the International Day of Euskera on December 3rd with children’s activities, with the participation of the local kindergarten kids and by placing the names of businesses on the block in their windows in Basque.
