Next Friday through next week's Sunday, the Euskal Etxea in Bordeaux will celebrate with a lively, fun-filled program to mark the 70th anniversary of its founding.  It will do it in two locations, at the clubhouse as well as at a stand in the Munich Plaza, participating in the “Bordeaux Fête le Fleuve” Festival that runs through June 4th.  There will be something for everyone, including a cider house menu and txotx, to other gastronomic events, as well as txarangas, performances, sports and typical products for purchase.

Bordeaux, France.   Under the name Basque attitude, members and friends of the club and the general public, including friends from other euskal etxeas, are especially invited to join in the Basque-Bordelaise celebration for its 70th anniversary.  Seven decades are a lot, so Eskual Etxea has not held back in preparing a complete program that provides something for everyone sharing in the event.  In addition to the usual musical entertainment, there will also be a concert by the group Skasti, a Basque cooking demonstration, a variety of pintxos, an authentic cider house and txotx with its corresponding typical menu, dancing, exhibitions of herri kirolak, dashes of Basque maritime history and above all a wonderful festive atmosphere.

Coinciding with the club’s anniversary the club has updated its website. The Basque celebration will also coincide with the Fète le Fleuve Festival and the Basques participating as a local entity in this popular initiative in the city of Garonne.  Remember that Bordeaux is also Bilbao’s sister city.

The kickoff of the anniversary celebrations will take place this Friday at 5pm with a band, music and singing.  After that, the nonstop program of activities will continue (see complete program, pdf).  The club will also have a stand in the Munich Plaza with a sagardotegia (cider house).

The Basque restaurants didn’t want to miss out on the celebration either and so various bars and establishments in the city will also provide special pintxos made for the occasion, as well as Basque menus for 5 Euros and 16-18 Euros respectively (see the list of restaurants here).
