This is one of the Bordeaux club’s most important dates, every June 21 they take to the streets to celebrate the Music Festival and the summer solstice. This year, the program of activities also included concerts by the Bestalariak Choir, Basque and Occitan dancing and a public dance to the music of Baga Biga. There is no doubt that the Basque club met its goal, getting everyone to sing and dance. Following a photo gallery of the event.
Bordeaux, France. The Bordeaux Basque club celebrate another edition of its Music Festival on June 21, where they took advantage of the longest night of the year to take to the streets and enjoy summer’s arrival.
This was the 35th edition of the festival and as always, the club prepared a large program of activities that were divided between the Basque club and the nearby Place des Basques. In the plaza, the club had a booth that provided pintxos, talo, sagardoa and other beverages that attendees could enjoy during the afternoon and evening.
The festival began at 7pm with an exhibition of Basque and Occitan dance, accompanied by accordion and guitar. Afterwards, the club’s choir, Bestalariak, performed a recital of traditional Basque songs, encouraging everyone to join in. To conclude the evening, the group Baga Biga took the stage and got everyone dancing, like at a typical Basque dance, to Basque folk rock.
