Bordeaux, France. The Bordeaux Basque club has embarked on an adventure that unites culture and sport and also promises to be a lot of fun. The event is called the Bordele-Bilbo Cycletour 2014 and will take place on May8-10th. The event was organized by the Basque club with the collaboration of various cycling associations: Stade Bordelais ASPTT, Bera Bera (Donostia) and Urgozo Iturriko Txirrindulari Elkartea (Bilbao).
“The goal of the tour is to discover the Atlantic regions and its meadows, dunes, cliffs and green mountains. Refreshments and relaxing evenings, and traditional musical entertainment will give you an idea of the Basque/Aquitaine dynamic,” according to organizers.
Stages
The event was organized to accommodate 150 participants. Some places have already been taken by members of the participating cycling associations, but anyone who would like to join in still can.
The tour will be broken down into various stages that follow:
-Stage 1: Bordeaux - Leon, 150 km, gradient + 1000 m. It will pass through: Bordeaux, Talence, Villenave D'ornon, Léognan, Saucats, Moustey, flats, Commensacq (Supplies), Labouheyre, Escource, Mezos, Linxe, Leon.
- Stage 2: Leon - San Sebastian, 130 km, gradient + 1500 m. It will pass through: Leon, Soorts-Hossegor, Capbreton, Baiona, Bassussarry (supplies), Ahetze, Donibane Garazi, Hendaia, Irun, Hondarribia, Pasaia, Donostia.
-Stage 3: Donostia - Bilbao, 140 km, gradient + 2500 m. It will pass through: Donostia, Orio, Zarautz, Getaria, Zumaia, Deba, Mutriku (supplies) Ondarroa, Lekeitio, Gernika, Larrabetzu, Lezama, Bilbao.
Registration
The cost to enroll is 50 € that includes equipment for the trip (license, enrollment card and roadbook) refreshments on all three stages, cocktail party upon arrival and souvenir gift. The lodging and dinners are free. However, cyclists and their guests may take advantage of the following: 2 nights with breakfast and two dinners for 95 €. There will be an award ceremony in Bilbao.
